How this guide is checked

Kashmir Travel Guide is an independent travel guide to Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh. This page explains how its entries are written, where the facts come from, when they were last looked at, and what happens when something is wrong.

What gets stated, and what gets left out

A travel guide fails quietly. A fee rises, a road closes, a timing shifts, and the page keeps saying what used to be true. So the rule here is that a fact is stated only when it can be checked, and left out when it cannot. You will find pages that do not quote an entry fee or an opening time. That is deliberate: an absent figure costs a reader one phone call, an invented one can cost them a day.

Every entry carries two dates

Each entry shows the day it was published and the day a person last went through it. Both appear on the page itself, not only in the page's metadata, and the review date is what puts an entry back in the queue to be looked at again. If an entry has not been reviewed in a long time, you can see that for yourself before you rely on it.

Sources are named next to the claim

Anything that changes with the day belongs to the body that publishes it, so those are linked directly: the Airports Authority of India for airport information, Indian Railways for train times, and the India Meteorological Department for weather warnings. Where an official source and local practice disagree, the entry says so rather than picking the tidier answer.

Photographs are credited to the people who took them

Credit is stored against the photograph itself rather than the page, so the same picture is attributed the same way everywhere it is used. Photographer and source are recorded for every image, and the openly-licensed work used on the site is listed on the image credits page with its licence.

Placement is never coverage

Partners can pay to be placed on the site, and where they have, the placement is labelled as such. What they cannot buy is an opinion, a ranking, or a recommendation. A business's own page will never be used to push its competitors, and no entry is written, altered or removed because of what someone paid.

Corrections

If something here is out of date or simply wrong, it is worth telling us: a correction to one entry helps everyone who reads it next. Corrections are made on the page and the review date is moved to the day the change was checked, so the record of when it was last verified stays honest.
